I read most of these last summer. So far I have read two books this summer my goal is 10! I will let you know how I do!
Book 1 - The Secret Life of Bees - What a great read. Set in the south during racial unrest this is a book of a young girls journey to find the truth. I found myself in many of the female characters in this story. They are all strong female roles that I can't wait to see portrayed on film when the movie comes out on video.
Book 2 - Firefly Lane - I just finished it tonight! The last two chapters were tear jerkers. I cried all day as I read. The boys asked me what was wrong and I told them I was reading a sad book. This book is the story of two friends that meet as awkward teenagers. It follows them through three decades of life together. It is a really great read and is set in the time period that I grew up in so many of the mentions of songs, pop culture, clothing and stores are familiar. If you like a good read about girlfriends this is the book for you!
